Fri, 27th Oct, 2023 Cruice Park Rest Area, near Woodford to Ray & Carol’s place Banksia Beach on Bribie Island, Qld

Cool morning, 17 degrees and windy. Only a short shower of rain during the night. Blue sky with puffy clouds. Forecast for only a maximum of 22 degrees today!! Bit of change from the 35-37 we just had.

Back on the D’Aguilar Highway and through Woodford - birthplace of Dad’s father, George. We have explored this area well of course.

Down through the D’Aguilar Range - Dad used to tell the story of his grandfather, William taking the homemade butter down the range by horse & sulky to Caboolture and even to Brisbane. One time though when he got there the chap tested it and declared it was ‘off’ so he didn’t get any money for that big trip.

Over the M1 and across to Bribie Island to visit Ray & Carol at their place at Banksia Beach.

Over the Pumicestone Passage bridge. Hazy view of the Glasshouse Mountains in the distance. Very windy.

Turned off to Bongaree and drove along the foreshore. Pulled up for a cuppa with a view back to the bridge.

Wandered along reading the info boards and plaques.

Bet that little place is worth a lot of money now!

More info as we wandered towards the bridge.

Back to the truck and along to the Information Centre. Went in to get a better map of Fraser Island but they only had the same as the NPs one. I picked up this info about Bribie’s history.

Around to Ray & Carol’s place and parked up on the front lawn.

Checked out their new van then joined them for lunch. A shower of rain fell so closed up the camper and the rain promptly stopped. Still very windy.

The magpies liked the rain and sang us lots of songs. Still cold, only got to 19 degrees in the camper today.

A few more showers of rain in the afternoon but we were all good chatting away in the house.

Lovely dinner then we watched a movie.

More light rain when we headed back into the camper for bed. Very cool, need our blankets tonight. Just when I was thinking of taking the flannelette sheets and blankets off!!
