Only one cafe open so I got a cuppa and something to eat. Lots of people already in the massage chairs sound asleep and in all kinds of spots sleeping on the floor. I found a ‘sleep pod’ shop where you can rent a pod in the dark for $80 (I didn’t find that till I had 2 hours to go!) I kept awake all night by wandering around, writing my blog, reading my book and checking out all the facilities. I found the showers in the international section but after stripping off for a shower I couldn’t get any hot water and it was too cold for a cold shower!
Rebecca sent through some photos from their walk at Cradle Mountain. Glad they are having a great time. Kaylene text to see how I survived the night.
5am Muffin Break opened so got a cuppa then headed to the train station to go around to the East Perth Station for my 7am departure on the ‘Prospector’ to Kalgoorlie. Lovely roomy seats with footrests, movies to watch etc and a lot cheaper than a plane where you are crammed in and can't walk around. Might get to a place quicker but it is all the waiting around before and after that makes it into a tiring journey on planes.
I managed to get a couple of hours sleep as everyone was nice and quiet. Got some breakfast and chatted with my neighbour - a nice chap from Merridin and the other people around me.
Finished my book just as we pulled into Kalgoorlie. Steve was waiting for me - quite warm at the moment but he said it is still cool at night so he hadn’t taken the flannelette sheets off yet! Sent messages to the kids to say I had arrived safely.
Out to Lake Douglas for the night - tried one of the other spots I found before and set up.
Glad to be back with my man and he has done a pretty good job cleaning out all the red dust from the windy, dusty Lake Perkolilli racing.
Nice breeze in the later afternoon as I packed all my stuff away etc.
Steve cooked a lovely roast chicken and vegetables dinner for me. No ice cream for dessert though!!
Nodding off so into bed to catch up on some sleep.
