Fri, 12th August, 2016 Bush camp, near Marble Bar, WA

7am 20 degrees, clear sky and a cold breeze. Very windy last night.

Headed out looking for gold!! I found a little bit and a rock at the first place. When Steve looked at the rock he saw a bit of gold and picked it off the rock. There was no more signal in the rock so we didn’t have to smash that one.

I found a couple more bits after smoko but poor Steve is on a drought. I think this area has been done to death and only the 2300 is capable of getting the tiny little bits that are left.

After lunch we tried another place and again I got one little bit and nothing for Steve.

Didn’t make my 1 gram today though.

3pm 34.6 degrees in the van with all the windows and vents open. Now we feel at home. Drove into town to dump the dunny and get some water so we can enjoy long hot showers. Stopped at the Mining Office and got some Tengraph maps of the area. Will do the sightseeing trip tomorrow for our wedding anniversary.

Steve noticed the original water tank on the truck had dropped a bit so he got out some bits and tools and fixed it all up – such a handy chap to have around!!

The next lot of buds opened on the Sturt’s Desert Pea which was lovely.

Another lovely evening. The breeze settled for our showers which is handy.
