7.30am
23.3 degrees, overcast and still. Wind and light showers throughout the night.
Washed
my hair as we are getting fresh water in Nullagine as we pass through. Packed
up and headed off. The bit of rain settled the dust at least.
Topped
up the water and got a bit of fuel in Nullagine then headed off to Marble Bar.
Years ago, Uncle Wal was into using a Weegie Board (or whatever it’s called)
and Mum was there so they asked it ‘where was Lena heading to’. It spelt out
‘Marble Bar’. She never went of course so I will have to take photos for her.
It is the hottest town in Australia.
Big
rocks on the hills as we head out of Nullagine then onto flat open plains.
Overcast all the way which made for a nice drive. Turned on to a bitumen road –
what a treat.
A
few sculptures greet us as we enter Marble Bar. Didn’t get the last one in
focus!!
Into
town – the water tank has a message – Our Summer is hot, Our Winter is warm and
Our Water is PRECIOUS.
Missed
the turn off to the camp spot so drove down the main street – nice and green
here with lovely gums. Will have to get a photo at the Iron Clad Hotel down the
end for cousin Chris.
Ray
and Carol from Woodgate, who we met at Mosquito Creek are here so rang them for
directions to where they are camped.
Rebecca
and Clive rang as we have full phone and internet service here. They are off in
their camper again which is great.
Jeff
went off detecting while we got set up. Steve made an outside shower as there
are no trees to hanging the bush shower from.
Ray
and Carol came up to join us for drinks then Jeff came back with two little
bits of gold.
Rang
Leanne for a chat as she had tried to ring us the other day.
Got
TV reception but only the ABC but at least we can hear the news instead of the
wishy washy radio reception we get.
Lovely
and warm – all the windows open – might have to take the flannelette sheets
off!!
