Tues, 2nd August, 2016 Bush camp, Mosquito Creek Goldfields, NE of Nullagine, WA

7am 12 degrees, cold and windy with a beautiful clear blue sky. Weird weather – hot one minute then freezing again!!

Jeff and Steve drove down the road a bit to access the creek where Allan found his two nuggets weighing a total of 7 ounces. They decided to dig out the bank after Jeff found a few pieces there yesterday.

I put on jeans, t-shirt, pullover jumper then my cardigan and wandered around the flats with my earphones on getting blown to pieces and didn’t find anything. Walked down to see how the boys were going and they only had one little piece from their digging but had found two more further along the bank.

Warming up a bit (22 degrees in van) as the sun’s heat fights the cold wind so off with the jumpers. I headed off again to try another area – I rather be given a patch to work on rather than walking around trying to find one!!

Gave up and had a cuppa then walked down with an Anzac cookie to see how the boys are going – certainly getting my exercise.

They ended up getting 5.6 grams so Jeff kept the big piece and gave us the equivalent in gold as they had agreed to share the spoils today.

6.30am 21.3 degrees in the van and the wind has stopped, yeah. Another lovely clear night.
