7am
15.5 degrees, clear sky and no wind.
Back
to my patch for one more go but only found 1 piece. Steve had found two little
bits over the hill on some scrapes so I went over there and got 3 more bits –
two were a bit bigger for a change.
Steve
did another big walk up and down the hills, in and out of gullies and found
some scrapes and got a target. He worked the area over and ended up with 10
nice nuglets.
Back
to the van for lunch and weigh-in.
Steve’s
10 came to 3.65 gram – he is very happy with that. I, of course, made lunch as
I only had 4 bits.
Heard
a big boom, we think it must be a mine blasting. We drove back to where he got
the 10 so I could go over the area with the 2300.
Unfortunately
he had done a very good job and I only found one piece. Just above a hole he
dug on the bank!! It is interesting when you look at where he found the pieces
they were in rows of 3 – must be from when they scraped the ground and the gold
was pushed to one side.
That
piece gave me a total of 1.07 grams for the day so I was happy. No more for
Steve unfortunately.
Back
to camp for a lovely long bush shower then down to the bore to top up with more
water. Went to phone hill to ring Ray & Carol who are at Marble Bar to
check out how they are going. Also rang David & Majella to get their advice
on Marble Bar too. They are now in Charters Towers and he had a few pieces of
gold for 25 grams!! Heard another boom.
Stopped
in at Robert & Robin’s for a drink with them and all the others. Ian has
been wandering with his 7000 out from his camp and has picked up three lovely
nuggets, 8, 6 and 5 grams!!
Back
to camp and Jeff had the fire going. He only got a few bits today. A bit of
cloud cover is coming over from the south.
