7.30am
12.6 degrees, clear sky and still windy.
Packed
up and headed towards Meeka. The brake fluid is dripping out of the master cylinder
more so Steve doesn’t want to chance it running out so we decided to head to
town early. No gold here any case!! The fridge is now freezing everything which
is better than getting hot but we definitely have a problem with it.
Puffy
clouds are coming over as we get back on the bitumen for a bit. Back onto the
gravel again then onto bitumen as we head into town.
Pulled
into the park and had a cuppa while Steve filled the water tanks. The end/start
of the Kingsford Smith Pathway with the old mail truck.
I
rang Mum and Dad – they have had some cold mornings. Maybe there was a cold
snap covering the whole country. Greg
Nolan had visited and said that Don Blyth had passed away. Poor Kerry and Paul
– thinking of them at this sad time. Kerry’s son’s wedding is tomorrow too.
Sent them a text.
Filled
up with diesel at the Coles Express (got 14c/l off the 176.9c/l too) and
swapped two gas bottles, $29 each, bit of a difference to $45/55 elsewhere.
Steve got more brake fluid so we will be right till we get the new kit at
Sandstone next week.
Drove
out to Peace Gorge picnic area and found a spot to park up for the night. It
has taken a couple of hours before all the ‘delayed’ texts started appearing.
One from Kerry telling us about her dad’s passing.
Had
lunch. The strong wind has settled to a nice cool breeze now. Sent off a text
to Tom and Sandy to see when we could catch up with them as they are still
working on the lease where we were two years ago. Sandy rang back and said they
will be in on Tuesday which will be great.
Uploaded
some of my blog entries and put an update on Facebook. Got lots of responses to
my photos etc.
Rang
Kaylene and Rick for a catchup. Shane and Doreen are in Cairns too so they had
a great time with them. Rick and Shane are going up the Palmer next week for a
couple of days.
Ian
sent me a photo but I couldn’t read it on my little phone. I gave him a call to
find out what it was - it was Don’s funeral notice. I will catch up with him to
watch the Supercars racing at Sandown when I am home and get him to show me his
‘trick’ in solving Sudoku puzzles.
The
clouds are coming over more. Updated the weather on the tablet and it says
cloudy with the temperatures going up to low 30s maximum and high teens
overnight – nice temperatures.
Rang
Wendy and David as they head off to Canada next week to see Sarah and do some
sightseeing with her. Sounds wonderful. We will get there one day.
The
sky is dark with clouds now and some even look like they have rain. Rolled in
the awning so it won’t flap if a storm comes through.
Leftovers
for dinner then a movie. Started watching Grey’s Anatomy again – I didn’t see
the newer series at home so it is something new.
