Tues, 24th Sept, 2019 Mickey & Chris’ place, Sandstone, WA

8am 18 degrees, thin cloud covering the sun and breezy.

Helped Mickey with the rooms etc. Steve fixed our screen door lock as it was very hard to unlock from the inside.

Our new phone arrived. Time to upgrade as my old one was 2G/3G so got a Tough Max T84 which has an aerial port like our old one but this one is like a smart phone so we can use the data we get with the prepaid service. Only problem is it doesn’t have a great calendar/diary with alarms like my old one so I will either keep using the old phone or just go back to writing on the wall calendar.

Temperature warming up – opened up the van. The wind has blown all the clouds away.

Went detecting after lunch and tried an area around some old shafts. A lot of ironstone with only a little bit of quartz – different ground to up north. Steve found a little bit so we moved closer to that spot and I got a little specimen straight away but then nothing. Steve went for a wander and came back with another little bit from an ironstone blowout. No more so we headed back for drinks and to show Chris and Mickey our first bits of Sandstone gold. Will put my specimen in some acid to see how much gold is in it.

Another lovely dinner with Chris and Mickey followed by icecream, of course, as we found gold today! Chris heading off early tomorrow for his week of work at St Barbara’s Mine at Leonora.

Cooling off again so closed up the van when we went to bed.

NO PHOTOS TODAY.
