Tues, 3rd Sept, 2019 Bush camp on Koonmarra Station, west of Meekatharra, WA

7.30am 15 degrees, clear sky and windy. No more mousies – yeah.

We drove down to another area around some old shafts but only found a bit of rubbish and another nice quartz crystal.

Drove out to where more shafts were in the low hills. One area had a very deep shaft with two concrete pads beside it so a winch could pull up the miner and the ore. They had initials and dates carved into them. One was 1935 and the other was 1975.

Back to the van for lunch. The wind has gone – yeah. 24 degrees. The fridge is still playing up. First we thought it was because we were travelling and we were having 31 degree days – though that should be enough to worry it as we have had worse. Steve has checked everything and now thinks it is either the thermostat or there must be a blockage in the pipes which will mean pulling out the fridge and tipping it upside down – great. Hopefully it will behave till we get to Sandstone so we can check it all out. The fridge is still under warranty.

Went for another detect in Steve’s spot but no gold. We both found a nice big smooth crystal rock which could be cut or tumbled.

Drinks outside by the fire as a little breeze came up which was quite chilly – had to get my flanny.

Steve cooked dinner on the fire – it always tastes much better than inside! And I don’t have to cook – ha ha.

The breeze picked up as we went back in the van to eat dinner and then it just got stronger and stronger. Closed up the windows and the vents as it was cold! Well at least the fridge isn’t struggling with heat!
