Sat, 31st Aug, 2019 Bush camp on Koonmarra Station, west of Meekatharra, WA

7.30am 15.7 degrees, dark and overcast with gusty wind. Bleak start for the last day of Autumn.

Valerie’s birthday today – sending her good wishes for her birthday.

By 8.30am the clouds had moved to the north-east and the sun was shining again.

I baked and worked on my blog while Steve went wandering with his detector. Very rocky ground with big lumps of quartz and ironstone – not easy to walk on.

Steve came back with a happy grin – two bits of gold. He met John’s son-in-law, Dave who was detecting too. He said John wasn’t happy with the other two guys we met yesterday as they drove out to where John had found a quartz reef. Unfortunately he has not claim over it as the area is pending so no-one ‘owns’ it at present. If he was digging out gold he should have kept at it till it was all out.

Cool day – lunch time only 24 degrees. We have travelled south of course heading back to the cooler weather.

I continued with my blog while Steve put on his big coil and went back to his spot.

He came back with one more bit – not rolling in but at least he found something. He met another couple who are camped further along the track from us. They hadn’t found anything.

It was lovely outside now the wind has stopped so Steve lit the fire. Cooked dinner outside too.

Cooler evening, 19 degrees with all the windows closed.

NO PHOTOS TODAY.
