Mon, 18th Nov, 2024 Jane & Darryl’s place, Denmark to Cosy Corner East Campground, west of Albany, WA

The minimum got down to 12.5 degrees but with the clear sky and sun shining it was warming up nicely to 20 degrees at 7am. Supposed to get to 26 today but unfortunately very windy so our fishing hopes are dashed again.

Packed up and wandered around with Jane checking out the property. Bob & Margaret cooked up the marron ready to have with lunch etc.

Last cuppa with Jane but on the verandah this time as it is very nice outside at last as long as you are out of the breeze.

Said thanks and then Bob & Margaret headed up the hill, we turned around in the driveway where they had parked and headed up the hill too and back down to the main road. Back into Denmark and stopped at the Info Centre to top up the water and use the dump point.

Across the Denmark River (forgot to take photos but I had taken heaps on our first visit) and headed eastward. Turned off the highway then along to Cosy Corner Road. View as we drive down to the ‘west’ section which is only for day use and checked out the sea - wild and windy.

Back to the campground and chose a spot. We had stayed here before (when it was free). After some sorting out we got into the camp spot which is supposed to be for two vans! Paid our $10/night for 2 nights as tomorrow is supposed to be wet so may as well park up here.

It is lovely and warm in the sunshine and we could open our windows for some breeze. Had lunch then walked down to through the lower tent camping area and onto the beach. A long line of wind turbines on the hill further over.

Haven’t had a selfie for a while!

Put my feet in the Southern Ocean - cold. Forgot to put my feet in the Indian Ocean when I walked down to Florida Beach the other day - will have to do that when we go back. Lucky we don’t want to go swimming as there are lots of blue bottles on the beach.

Walked along with the wind pushing us along but the sun was warm and we had our flanny shirts on. Got to a creek and took the track up the dune to a bridge.

Followed the track back onto 4WD tracks checking out the different plants. Margaret said these are called Christmas Trees (bloom around Christmas) and they will have golden flowers. Lots of other flowers about too.

Found a grass tree with a fabulous straight stalk. Steve found a smaller broken one on the side where a slasher or something had gone along the track.

Lots of these big bushy trees in bloom too.

Back home for a cuppa then close up the camper around 4pm as the warmth disappears from the sun. Clouds starting to come over too.

Drinks and chatting in Sharp’s van as they have room. We can hear the waves on the beach so it will be nice to go to sleep with tonight.

Steve pulled the flesh out of his two marron and we reheated them when cooking dinner.
