Wed, 30th Oct, 2024 Bush camp, old Wogolin townsite to Kev & Linda’s place, Bunbury, WA (Big Numbat)

13.8 degrees min but up to 19 by 7.30am as the sun gets up earlier each day! The green parrots are tap dancing in the camper roof.

Packed up and continued northward on the Rabbit Proof Fence Road then we turn westward to Wickepin. Lovely little town which we explored before.

The fields of grain continue and we are travelling beside a big water pipe. Stopped for a cuppa at Tarling Well.

Next town is Narrogin - marking off more roads on my map book. It is a bigger town. RV spot next to the railway line with a dump point which we used.

Continue on towards Williams - rolling up and down small hills. A few sheep here and there amongst all the fields of grain. Across a narrow stream of Williams River.

Into Williams township, cute sign.

We pulled off into a new park area. Walked down to the Williams River weir.

Steve made friends with the emu made of horseshoes and boxed with the baby!

Lovely park area.

Information about the Numbat which is in the Dyandra Woodlands, north of here.

More info and sculptures. Lots of interesting tools in the wedge tail eagle.

Across the river is the old Williams Hotel which was being refurbished when we came through here in 2017. Price of diesel is dropping which is good.

Backtracked a bit to get onto the road to Collie. Across the Williams River again - a narrow stream again. The pipeline is still by the roadside but disappears sometimes to straight line windy road sections.

Across the Williams River again but this is a wider bridge with little streams below us.

Up and down more hills. Turned off to have lunch at ‘Waterfall Tank’ according to Wikicamps. We crossed over the water pipe and the ‘waterfall’ is the sound of the water falling into the big reservoir here.

We parked back along the track and had lunch. Rang Wendy for a catch up and to hear about her Mum’s birthday celebrations.

Continued on into pine plantations and natural forests covering lots of hills which we are rolling through.

Passed a water pump station on the pipeline.

Across the Collie River which is wide then through Collie which we have explored before.

Through Wellington National Park. Lost the pipeline so I suppose it went down to the Wellington Dam. We had checked out the fabulous murals on the dam wall last year.

Up and down the hills then the ocean comes into view as we start the descent towards Bunbury.

Onto the South Western Highway which is undergoing major roadworks to create another bypass.

Around to Kev & Linda’s place and set up in the driveway. Kev is passionate about stopping the proposed windfarms which are being planned to be built out in the ocean.

It is Linda’s birthday today so it was nice to be able to wish her well today.

They have another lady, Tarsh, staying in her van at the moment. Her husband, Paul, was an apprentice for Kev when he had the motorbike shop in Alice Springs (which is where we met them in 1986) and is currently working away on one of the mines.

Had a lovely time chatting and catching up on all the family news etc.
