Sat, 16th Nov, 2024 Jane & Darryl’s place, Denmark, WA (sightseeing)

Overcast and cold! 13 degrees and it is only getting to 17 today! We should have gone north!

After a cuppa we piled into Bob’s car and went into town to pick up a local map of the area to find some spots to go fishing - though it’s a bit chilly for that. Lots of things to do around here but no free/freedom camping available. We had stayed further east at a free camp and just did day trips on our previous visit here. Good history info on the map.

Checked out the woodturning shop next door - lovely pieces.

Nice mural.

Drove around the streets on the hillside then back through town and up a gravel road to check out the look out at Mt Shadforth (300m). There is a small plaque on the ground beside the timber platform of the lookout.

Unfortunately it wasn’t a good day for the view but Bob had fun checking out a new house being built beside the lookout.

Back home for lunch. Should have brought soup!

After lunch the sky cleared a bit so we headed westward to check out Parry Beach. We hadn’t been to this one. Walked over the rocks on the west side of the beach. Might be a good spot to throw our lines in.

Next is Hillier Beach.

Then down to the ‘tourist’ beaches, Greens Pool, Elephant Rocks and Waterfall Beach. Greens Pool looks great on the board but not so nice today.

We didn’t go down to Elephant Rocks as it was a bit of a walk for Bob’s knees. Continued on to Waterfall Beach.

A shorter walk down then along the beach to the waterfall. There wasn’t any water when they came here years ago.

Tomorrow and Monday are to get warmer so will try fishing then.

Back home for a cuppa with Jane who is also getting over a cold. Steve is coughing less, I am coughing more and so is Margaret. So far Bob is still the healthy one!

Got cold quickly this afternoon so drinks, shower and dinner in the camper.

Heard Darryl drive in about 9pm - he is working on a grain farm for 6 weeks at Mt Barker but managed to get a day off to see Bob & Margaret.
