Mon, 13th Jan, 2025 24hr RV Stop, Geraldton to Coronation Beach Campground, north of Geraldton, WA

The wind settled during the night but the hum of the air vents continued. Min of 20 degrees with the camper closed up. The sun is shining with a few clouds about.

Sent Bob a happy birthday text.

The wind is back as we packed up and headed along the coast line northward. Lots of ships waiting offshore.

Onto the North West Coastal Highway then we turned off onto the Coronation Beach Road. Up and down hills through grain fields then we see the water again. Down the hill.

Chatted with the camp host who has lived here for 2 years. Lovely lady - lived in Innot Hot Springs years ago. She said there had been a big competition over the weekend so most of the sites are full but there was one near the 4WD track that we could have. Will do us nicely - only one neighbour, two people in swags.

Sky clearer here but the beach is covered in mounds of sea grass - yuk!

We sat in the shade shelter with our cuppas and watched all the action. Chatted with some of the Wing Foil people. Geraldton Windsurfing Club have a container on the south end and they use the water that end as it is shallower. In the middle is for the Wing Foils as they need more water depth with their big foils under their boards. The north side is for the Kite Surfers. It is amazing to watch them all and they seem to be aware of each other - no crashes yet.

Went for a walk around the camp area. Great lookouts here too. The other one is up the road.

Back to the camper for lunch. More people arriving as the wind gets stronger.

Went back to the beach to watch. They don’t all stay in their designated areas!

Walked up to the road lookout then up to the other one. Didn’t take my camera as I had heaps of photos but should have has the water was just buzzing with so many water craft. I counted 31 at one stage. It kept us busy watching them all.

Back to the camper, only got to 28 with the cool wind. Closed up the camper on the wind side as it is very strong.

More people arrived and they kept ‘surfing’ till sunset which was very pretty with the clouds out to sea.

Roaring waves to listen to tonight.
