16 degrees min, clear sky and breezy. Nice quiet spot as there isn’t much traffic on this road.
After breakfast we headed off for our exercise - doing the history trail. They produce a good booklet which I photographed and put back for someone else to use.
Good map on the board too.
Under the sign was this plaque.
Down the path and across the road to the tennis courts, reading the info as we went.
Then down to the railway line. Heard one train last night. An old post office was where the two palms trees are. Now there is a private farm area.
Along the road by the rail line reading the info about each site. Nothing to see but it is a nice walk.
Spotted to kangaroos who were heading our way but changed their minds.
Further over is Betts Nature Reserve - wetland though very dry at the moment.
This one you can see the mounds of dirt that Chris Yonkoff moved by wheelbarrow to grow citrus and grapes. Further over the ditch he pulled it all from.
Skipped 12 to 15 as they are further along the main road.
Nothing left of the railway loading ramp etc. Mother Nature has taken it all back.
Out to the road to check out the School Teacher’s House - still going because it is lived in still.
Along the roadside checking where shops, another post office site and the old hall were then back over the road again and through the scrub. Spotted a few bits of colour - would be great to see it in the wildflower season. Not sure what this grass is - very red.
Last one is the old road bridge - buried under grass now.
Back to the rest area - another info board out on the main road then up the path that the students walked to school. The toilets and water tank are from that time too.
Back in the camper for a cuppa. Still very pleasant with the cool breeze.
Worked on my blog, need to keep at it now with all the sightseeing.
After lunch Steve beat me in a game of Dammit! The other travellers left.
Heated up to 33 at lunch time but then it got hotter on the gauge as the sun beat on the side of the camper where the thermometer is, 37 degrees at 2.30pm. There is a nice breeze though.
More blogging while Steve read.
5pm, our thermometer got to 40 on the sunny side of the camper. Should have moved into the shade! There is a nice breeze so we went outside to the BBQ hut for drinks.
Once the sun had dropped below the tree line Steve cooked dinner on the BBQ - steak and stir fry vegies. Unfortunately we had to put up with a few flies still!
Back to the camper for a movie. Another two vans have pulled in.
