Mon, 25th Aug, 2014 Woodgate to Cooroibah (near Tewantin)

Cool morning 7am 12.9 degrees, clear blue sky, flat sea but no dolphins. One kangaroo posed for photos.

Steve's new office

Farewell to Steve’s parents, Erica and Terry. We are following in their footsteps as they retired when Terry was 55 and have been caravanning around Australia for the past 25 years and still travel a lot. Via Childers which looks a lot like the Tablelands with its red soil and rolling hills. Stopped behind a motorbike at some road works and got his view on boat people!!!

Learnt some facts with the fatigue questions on the highway – What is a monotreme, A mammal that lays eggs. – Coldest town in Queensland , got that one correct, Stanthorpe (where my mum and dad got married in June – would have been freezing).

Arrived at Maryborough Hospital to see Steve’s sister-in-law Amanda as she couldn’t come up on the weekend. She took us to see Steve’s uncle (Terry’s brother) Claude who is in the hospital with cancer and heart complications. Great to see him but sad as he is not travelling well. Rang Steve’s cousin Robert and had a nice chat.

Another Big thing to add to my collection

Heading south to my cousin Roald and Joan’s new place at Cooroibah (near Tewantin) but had “girlie” set on shortest so she took us the meandering way through rural area around Coran etc but it was great as there was no traffic and we got to see the scenery. Only Joan was there as Roald is in Perth trying to sell their house there. This house is beautiful and the setting is so tranquil – will be back again for a longer stay. So close to the beaches but so removed from all the hustle and bustle. Larger property and great big paperbark trees with lots of lorikeets nesting in them. Plenty of room for a cricket pitch too!!! Wonderful dinner and night chatting (and drinking) by the pool overlooking the beautiful garden. So nice to spend time with Joan and catch up on all the news.
