Tues, 26th Aug, 2014 Cooroibah (Noosa to Alexander Headlands sightseeing)

Woken by the sound of the Currajong birds warbling their morning song. Unhooked the van and went up a step drive to Mt Timbeewah in Tewantin Forest Reserve. The truck thought it was great not to be towing the van. While I rang the Tuckshop girls for a chat (just in case they were missing me) Steve got the kettle going. Then we realised I had packed food for lunch and the milk but forgot the coffee and sugar. So a glass of milk and a cookie was our morning tea. Walked to the summit which has lots of anchor points off the steep cliff for abseiling. Fantastic 360 degree views.

Into Noosa – going to do the walk through the National Park – but there were so many people and surfers you couldn’t get near it. We will do that another time. Drove to the other end where the Noosa River meets the sea and had a walk along the beach.

The weather has been great though the breeze is still nippy. Headed south along the beaches and had lunch overlooking a beach.

Found Emu Mountain (used to have emus there) but the ground was quite wet from all the rain so decided on the boardwalk through the paperbarks to the sea but after the boardwalk ended the track became a river so back we went to the truck. Heard lots of frogs though.

Beautiful view from the lookout at the south end of Coolum Beach.

People have put remembrance plaques on the handrails and there were heaps of padlocks locked to the rails – love messages etc.

Had a cuppa (bought coffee & sugar!!) at Alexander Headland and had a great chat with mum and dad – using up the credit on the spare phone that expires tomorrow. Walked along the beach and saw the surfers in the distance.

Drove further south to where they were surfing and sat on the viewing platforms high on the headland. Fascinating watching them – though they did look like seals in their black wetsuits.

Glad we hadn’t brought the van through as it was tight getting the our old Yellowfin neighbours, Brooke & Terese’a place. Fantastic view to the sea and spacious and plenty of room. Headed back to Joan’s along the Sunshine Motorway – strange as it is full of big roundabout. Another great dinner – I am being spoilt not having to cook!!
