Tues, 3rd Oct, 2017 Webb’s Patch Mine, 30km east of Cue, WA (Benjamin’s birthday)

7.30am 20 degrees, clear sky and breezy.

Off detecting again – went back to where Steve got his bit and he scored another. I only got lead shot and 8 old AA batteries!! I think it is time for me to retire and get into sightseeing mode again.

Drove around the main-made hills of Friar Mine and then walked into the open pit. Full of water now.

Walked to the end for some more photos. The colour of the water is amazing.

How did those fish get in there?

Steve’s turn on the camera – my glamorous detecting clothes.

All the excess dirt ends up making hills around the mine.

Took a photo through my sunglasses to see the difference of the colour compared to just the camera view.

Poor looking bush had some pretty flowers.

The haul road is still solid.

Stopped at 16 Mile Well where the poor old windmill is very sad.

There must have been a station house etc here at some time as we found foundations and even a wooden spoked wagon.

This lovely shady tree behind another slab is certainly not native around here.

Very still at lunch time. Rang Jeff to update him on the prospecting. Hopefully we will meet up with him and Lynne next year near Hall’s Creek.

Wind picked up in the afternoon which cooled it off again. I stayed back and looked into info about the Canning etc while the others went off detecting.

Rang Rebecca and Clive for a nice long chat. Then a lovely chat with Mum. I don’t feel so far away if I can just chat for a while with family and friends.

Steve came back with another little nuglet.

The wind has picked up from the south and didn’t settle after the sunset so the fire was wilder tonight.

Spotted a bright satellite heading near the moon – as all the other stars were hidden by the moon’s brightness it was probably the space station again since it was so bright.

The wind kept blowing through the night – had to close up the windows.
