Tues, 8th May, 2018 Georgia Bore, cnr CSR & Talawana Track, WA (rest day)

6.30am 17.5 degrees, clear sky and light breeze. Birds are happily tweeting though there isn’t any water around for them other than what gets dropped on the ground from the bore. Got buzzed by mosquitoes early this morning so will put our mozzie net up over the bed for tonight.

Having a rest day so I can catch up on my blog.

Took a photo of our camp site since we were too late to get one last night.

To the south are some rocky hills that we went by in the dark last night.

Steve got more water and rinse out the washing that had been slushing around in the bucket.

A few annoying hornets have decided our camp needs investigating!! The flies are bad too so on with my fly net.

Steve pottered about setting up his fireplace. He found a drum in the bush and brought that over to use as a table. Then he modified some tent pegs to make hooks for the awning ropes so we could unclip them easily.

After lunch we played a few games of Dice then we went and checked out the hand pump of Georgia Bore.

Some information here too. The bore was named after the senior geologist’s newly born baby girl. There is a sign saying information shelter but don’t know where that has gone.

Georgia Bore
This bore was drilled and equipped by CRA for use by their survey crews while exploring for oil during the 1990s. There are many of these bores situated at disused CRA campsites throughout the Canning Basin. Water in CRA bores is usually of excellent quality.

In an old frypan was the visitors’ books and lots of cards from travellers. I added our names and took photos of the ones who have signed in this year.

Getting a lot of blogging done with breaks to recharge the lap top. Glad we have the 12 volt charger for it.

A nice hot day, 3pm 34.8 degrees in the shade with a good breeze. The washing is all dry so now the domestic is bringing it all in and even folding it neatly.

No one has come through here so another quiet night.

We never tire of the night sky view but love the challenge of Skipbo. So a few more games after dinner by the fire. Steve wins again.
