14.3 degrees min with the camper closed up. Clear sky and cool breeze when we opened the door!
Steve did my hair colour then he went and checked out the neighbour’s BBQ. No good, needs a new thermocouple so they will just have to wait to get to a shop to claim it under warranty as it is brand new.
Had a cuppa then went for a walk through the park and around to the Race Course where the Meet and Greet is being held this afternoon. Walked back out to the main road (Hannan St) and back to the park.
Had lunch then packed up and went to Woolies for a few bits.
Out to the Goldfields Highway and along the Super Pit. Passed a sign saying about taking the Super Pit to 2034 with Northern Star (another gold mining company).
There is a big wall of rocks off to the right now and a big hill that they are dumping rocks on which is new from our last visit, I think.
Parked and make a cuppa then went for a wander over to the fence. The flies are just as bad up here - why! They are working on a higher section hence we heard the blast and saw the dust clearer. When we were here for a blast the first time it was right down the bottom and took ages for the sound to travel up to us. Amazing to think of the big pit but there is also all the underground tunnels too. Tonia said she felt vibrations from drilling at their house.
The dozer is having a hard time shifting some big boulders.
Along to the viewing platform - took photo to compare to other visits. Gavin said they will be moving it soon as they want to dig up this area. We could see past the red dirt area to where they were blasting.
Don’t think I saw these signs before as they are outside the viewing platform.
Quite hot in the sun but there is a cool wind blowing. Back down and along to the Meet and Greet which starts at 3pm. Found a park down the street as the car park was filling up. Walked in - still some vehicles being unloaded.
Lots of buggies - sent photos to Tracy & Grant and to Mike & Anne as they have buggies. Some of the bigger ones too as well as stadium off-road vehicles as such. Lots and lots of motorbikes too.
Found our ‘friend’ John Wisse and his buggy and Steve had a good chat with him about all the mechanics etc.
Plenty of people coming to check them out as a lot of buggies live here - miner’s toys!
Walked back out and our empty parking spot was full up but they left us room to get out. Drove back to the RV Stop and parked in our usual spot again. Didn’t bother taking more ‘camp’ photos.
Outside for drinks again and chatted with another couple from Brisbane.
The sun set taking the temperature with it so headed inside for dinner. Bought our tickets online ($15 each) for tomorrow at Mt Vetta Station to watch the Prologue for both bikes and cars and then there is a Dash for Cash in the evening which should be interesting.
