Wed, 9th Oct, 2024 Bush camps off Nambi Road, Leonora, WA (Sophia 7 months)

Min of 22.4 degrees this morning, a bit cloudy. No breeze.

The clouds disappeared after breakfast. Waved Bob and Margaret off as they head back to Mandurah, will catch up with them again there.

Our darling little girl is 7 months old today. She is growing beautifully. Sent off a message to Fran and she sent back a photo of Sophia. My photo collection is getting bigger and lots of videos too.

Drove around the hill to where we had looked at the shafts. Old mate was still camped up there but we didn’t see him. We saw a little car parked by a tree then further along a chap detecting, heading back to his car. I gave him a wave and we continued following two-wheel tracks further down the pending lease. We came to the corner pegs of the 4 leases and the track ran out so we stopped and got out to detect. Next minute we hear a voice, muttering. He was the chap we saw before - he must have turned around and run back down to where we stopped. He went on about people parking on his ‘patch’. I said it is pending ground so it isn’t his and if we saw that he was working there we wouldn’t have stopped but as he was walking the other direction, how were we to know. He seemed very aggressive so we got back in the truck and turned around and went back to where his car was parked and continued on another track which then took us further down the lease. Pulled up and had a wander but only found a few bits of rubbish.

It is a lot warmer with a thin cloud over the sky. We drove back out and onto the Nambi Road and continued along to the next pending area. We followed the fence line in then followed a track and found a chap detecting around some pushes. He waved us over and we had a lovely chat with him. He is camped on the other side of the road on more pending as a local had told him about finding a big nugget and a big rock full of gold near the edge of the pending somewhere. He hasn’t found it yet but the chap had told him about this spot so he thought he would check it out. He hadn’t found anything and was about to head back to his camp. We went back a bit then across the creek and found a spot to park up.

3pm it was 34 degrees in the camper. More clouds coming over. Had a cuppa then went for a wander.

Darker clouds are building up. The wind picked up too so no fire tonight - no friends to sit around it with any case!

Drinks inside while we played Skipbo.

The wind got stronger giving the camper a good rock but it is still quite warm, 7pm 31 degrees.
