Tues, 1st Oct, 2024 Bush camps off Nambi Road, Leonora, WA

Min of 14 degrees and the wind has picked up. Forecast for very strong winds and rain!

Went for a wander. I was heading to another shaft area but got a signal not far from camp. It was on the surface too so I thought it was rubbish. Unfortunately it was the only one. Continued walking but realised the shafts were too far away so just worked my way back to camp. Nothing for Steve or Margaret so we decided to move camp. The wind is getting stronger but the sky is clear still.

Drove back through the shafts area then along the track to another area full of pushings and dry blowing piles. Spotted some other campers over in the trees. Chose a spot and set up.

Bob likes this area better - smoother ground for his go-go-mobile. He put a rope on it and was trying to pull out some stumps for the fire! Didn’t work but he can collect the sticks in the basket or along the bottom at his feet so he feels like he has something to do.

We went wandering and I got two bits near a hole and pushings. Steve eventually found a bit where someone else has gridded an area - lots of dig holes so it must have been good.

The clouds are coming over now. I gave my detector to Margaret to try as it is better for the smaller targets. She got heaps but all rubbish.

The rain clouds are building up but they are going around us so we got to see another lovely rainbow as they passed by.

Early drinks by the fire as it was still not too windy. Watched the sun set behind a band of dark cloud. I went inside to make dinner so we could sit outside to eat it then I heard pitter patter on the roof and the others were rushing to put everything away as the rain came down!

Only lasted for 20 minutes and there was no wind with the rain. Quite warm still - got to 32.6 degrees in the camper with windows open.

Forecast for more rain tomorrow. There are storm cells around us as we can see the lightning.

The wind picked up again and moved all the clouds away so it was a clear sky full of stars when we went to bed.
