Mon, 14th Oct, 2024 Chris & Mickey’s place, Leonora to 72hr RV Stop at Bicentennial Park, Kalgoorlie, WA

17 degrees min, clear sky and cool breeze.

Rang the Aust Electoral Commission to apply for a phone vote for the Qld Elections coming up. Got our registration number and pin and then rang up again and cast our votes. Much easier than waiting around for a postal vote. Thanks Wendy for the information.

Said goodbye to Mickey as she headed off to work at reception at the hospital. Hopefully we can meet up with them at Northampton next year.

Packed up then showed Chris the engine etc. Said farewell then headed off towards Kalgoorlie. Sadly a group of goannas were squashed on the road within feet of each other.

Stopped for a cuppa at Menzies by the old machinery displays that we have explored before.

Lunch at the Info Bay rest area before Kalgoorlie as we wanted to do some shopping at Bunnings etc. Got a text back from Gavin but he is working away at the moment so we will try and catch up with him in a week or so.

Around to the 72 hour RV Rest Area at the Bicentennial Park in town. They have a dump point and water here too and have put blue metal down over the red dirt. A few other travellers are parked up. We chose a spot.

I uploaded my blog etc and Steve rotated the tyres.

Got a message from Amanda, Miss Cairns entrant with me. She and her husband Trevor are on a cruise around Australia and would be stopping in Cairns. What a shame we weren’t there as we haven’t seen them in years. She then said they will be stopping in ports down the WA coast and will be in Albany on 10 Dec so we will try to meet them there. They are now living in Melbourne. Would be great to see them again.

Drinks in the shade outside chatting with our neighbours from Coffs Harbour - heading home after 5 months travelling around the top and down the coast.
