Sun, 20th Oct, 2024 Bush camp near Boorar, ESE of Kalgoorlie to 72hr RV Stop at Bicentennial Park, Kalgoorlie, WA (Dan & Fran’s 1st wedding anniversary)

Min of 21 degrees, nice. Sunny but there is thin cloud coming over and the wind has picked up a lot. Forecast for 39 degrees with strong wind but then down to 29 max tomorrow!

Packed up and headed back along the track and crossed back over the railway just after a very long freight train went by.

Sent messages to Dan and Fran wishing them a happy anniversary. Dan replied they will be doing something special next weekend when they arrange a babysitter.

Back along Mount Monger Road - the dump piles around the Super Pit are so huge - makes the trucks look so small in comparison.

Messaged Gavin and he was home again so we drove to their place for morning tea. Had a great time catching up with him and Tonia and hearing what the kids are up to.

Back to the RV Stop for late lunch with the temperature rising and the gusty strong wind but it wasn’t too back as we parked in the shade. The sun was shining through the thin cloud.

3pm reached 37.5 degrees in the camper.

Uploaded my blog and looked into the big Sprintcar racing to happen at the Perth Motorplex end of Dec which Gavin mentioned. Sent a text to Malcolm - he knew about it and was looking into coming over for it.

Rang David to catch up and chatted with him and Amanda about their recent UK trip. Gave me some ideas for when I plan our overseas trip.

The wind has settled a bit but still blowing nicely so it was pleasant to sit outside for drinks and read our books as it was still quite hot in the camper even being parked in the shade.

A small motorhome pulled in beside us. Steve said hello when he went to put the chairs back in the truck and got chatting with the couple. I joined them and met Bruce & Diane from NZ. We set up our chairs again and had dinner while chatting with them. Very interesting couple.

A vehicle pulling a big trailer came into the camp area and then one with an off-road buggy on the back. Obviously here for the racing this weekend from Mt Vetter Station to Lake Perkolilli. The sponsorship name on it was Gecko Rope Access and they had a good looking gecko that makes ours look more like lizards! Will have to get a photo in the morning.

It was nearly 9.30pm when we headed inside and the sky has cleared as we could see stars now.
