13.4 degrees min, clear sky and the wind has picked up and blowing hard outside. The camper is closed up but it only got to 18 degrees at 8am.
Moved camp further along the Ora Banda Road to another pending lease. Followed a two wheel track in and found a van and tents but no one around. Drove back out and continued down to other end of lease and found a track in and set up camp.
The ground is all red soil but there is a bit of quartz about so Steve put his big coil on hoping for a deep target. I decided to do the washing.
Steve came back at lunch time with only an old staple as the only target he found. He didn’t see any sign of the other people.
Decided it was time to end the detecting part of our life and move back into sightseeing so packed the detectors etc away. 3pm 30 degrees and the wind has stopped.
Had a cuppa then headed back out through the clusters of thin trees. A few branches needed shifting. Our camper is so much better than towing a van as we wouldn’t have gotten into half the places we go if we were still towing.
Back to the Goldfields Highway and headed back towards Kalgoorlie. Passed the entrance to where the Desert Race will start. They have sponsorship signs etc on the gates now and we can see big containers etc further over.
A few competitors pulled in as we passed and then more along the highway so it must have just opened up for competitors to arrive. We will go to the Meet & Greet tomorrow arvo in Kalgoorlie.
Back to Bicentennial Park RV Stop again for the night. Set up and sat outside to enjoy our drinks. Neighbours wandered over for a chat - from Gippsland, Vic having a few months around the bottom of WA. They are having problems with their gas BBQ so Steve said he will have a look in the morning.
Cooling off so we headed into the camper and closed up so keep the cool out. Lots of travellers parked up tonight.
