Wed, 28th Nov, 2018 Lake Mason, 50km NE of Sandstone to Outback Accommodation, Sandstone, WA

7am 23 degrees, gusty SE wind and clear sky.

Steve headed off to detect while I worked on my blog etc. The wind got stronger.

Washed my hair and with the dry air and being able to leave it out, it didn’t take long to dry.

Read my book till Steve came back, empty handed unfortunately.

After lunch we packed up and headed into Sandstone. Met Mickey (Michelle) and the two dogs who of course loved Steve. Her husband Chris works for one of the mines near Leonora. Mickey showed us around and showed us the things needing doing while they were gone. They have the house and business up for sale so mainly needed it kept watered and tidy. As she has been ill she asked if Steve could mow the lawns for her. Very green, spongy grass. There were a couple of chaps coming in tonight so I will do the washing and remake the beds and clean the rooms – Christine will be proud of me!!

Great sign made out of horse shoes.

We parked the van and opened up all the windows and vents as it is going to be hot day.

Rang Mum and Dad. Mum had gone out so had a lovely chat with Dad. Very hot there, 40 degrees plus and humid but not the crazy wet feeling yet.

3pm 40.6 degrees here but no humidity so doesn’t worry us – just the fridge. No breeze at the moment either. Mickey has the air conditioner on in the house and there is a pool too so we will be fine.

Got hold of Mum later to say we had arrived – sadly Dad had forgotten to tell her that I rang. Will have a longer chat with her tomorrow.

Pete had rung last week about them coming over to Exmouth so gave him a call back to say we won’t be able to catch up as we are heading to Leonora.

Sat outside in the house BBQ area having a few drinks waiting for Chris to arrive. He was delayed as he got a flat on the Agnew Road. Lots of chatting as we joined them for dinner.

Mickey yelled ‘Steve, lift your legs, there’s a snake’. I got mine straight up and Steve was looking around for the snake and it was under his chair. The dogs went for it but they called them off in time thinking it is a very poisonous snake, King Brown. Luckily it turned out to be a python but he was removed from the BBQ area any case.

Back to the van and bed. Very quiet. Still quite warm but there is a light breeze now making it very nice for sleeping.
