Sat, 15th Dec, 2018 10 Mile Outcamp, Tarmoola Station, 60km north of Leonora, WA

Strong easterly wind blew all night. 7am 24 degrees cloudy and windy.

Dark clouds came over and a few drops of rain fell on us. Supposed to be sunny with a top of 40 today!

Clouds headed south and the wind eased – getting hotter – 10am 31 degrees.

Got out my square tablecloths that I have carted around for the last 4 years to put on the tables for our BBQ lunch with Kym and Glen. Set the table – very nice.

Nice and tidy inside now – handles on the kitchen cupboards and this is the lounge room!

Finished my first jigsaw – 300 pieces of horses. (still haven't worked out why it turns the photos around!)

Clouds passing over quickly now.

Kym and Glen and their dog arrived in the big truck as they have to pick up the cattle crush so it can go up to Milly Milly Station. It holds the whole body of the beast so they can dehorn them and put in tags etc.

Had a lovely BBQ lunch with lots of chatting.

Unfortunately the flies arrived for lunch too – I had put out one of those old fly sticky strips but they weren’t interested in it.

We also got invaded by heaps of these bright yellow and black bugs. They seem to want to fly into the fan. Googled them but couldn’t find out what they were.

Kym and I changed into our togs and had a dip in the ‘pool’ – very refreshing. Kym wants one too. We decided to have Christmas lunch at the homestead in the air conditioning so we don’t have to share lunch with the flies up here. Hoping to get some screen doors on the place to keep out the flies and mozzies.

The boys loaded up the crush then Kym and Glen headed home. Amazing the bugs disappeared too.

5pm still 39 degrees I in the van but it is ok in the shade. The breeze is strong but from the north east so it is quite hot.

Steve and I had our drinks in the shade then enjoyed a dip before going into the van for BBQ leftovers for dinner.

10pm still 33 degrees!! Sky clear and the hot wind is still blowing.
