Thurs, 10th Jan, 2019 10 Mile Outcamp, Tarmoola Station, 60km north of Leonora, WA

Very windy night. It stopped blowing at sunrise.

7.30am 26 degrees, clear sky and gentle breeze.

Packed up for our day out with Kym and Glen. Headed down to Jasper Mine and had a detect on an area nearby but nothing appeared.

Drove around the dam – it is so big we reckon we could have fun with a jetski on it. Watched a wedge-tailed eagle soar above it looking for something to eat.

Joined the others for a swim in Jasper Dam then BBQ lunch under our awning. Another swim – the water is so cool and refreshing.

Drove back to the homestead via the Quartz Hill that we were trying to find on New Years Eve to watch the sun set from. Would have been a great spot. Lovely view from here. To the north is King of the Hills Mine.

The shearing shed at Tarmoola stands out but the homestead is hidden with trees.

Back to the homestead and chatted over a cuppa.

Christened Kym’s new box of Sequence – the girls won!!

Headed home with yummy caramel and vanilla icecream that Kym made. Spotted a car on our side of the road facing us so slowed down to offer help. A couple of aborigines but they waved us on. They had everything out of the boot but said they were ok. As we drove off they rushed across the road and into the bush! Might have seen a goanna for dinner!

Further north we saw a 4WD crashed into trees so stopped to check it out. Steve had commented on the way down about skid marks across the road but we didn’t see the car then. Steve reckons the guy was lucky to live by the looks of the damage. He was heading south then veered across the road to the other side then the skid marks came straight across and into the scrub where it has rolled a couple of times. No dead cows around so he didn’t hit one or maybe he swerved around one. One tyre is missing so he could have had a blown out – playing detective here!! There was rubbish and paperwork everywhere. The police had their sticker on it (reported yesterday) and as it wasn’t covered in police tape we reckon the guy lived. Funnily enough I picked up a certificate for the chap when he did a 4 wheel driving course.

Back home late so cooked dinner then retired to the van as the wind has stopped and the mozzies are out wanting blood!

7.30pm 37 degrees – very still but the fans were enough to keep us cool.
