Sat, 21st November, 2015 Jingellic Reserve, Jingellic, NSW

Sent a message to Jodie wishing her a happy birthday.

Cooled off in the early morning that I had to get the bedspread again. 17 degrees when we got up. I worked on my blog this morning and Steve pottered around.

Sent a text to Jenny and Warren we met at Native Dog Flats. They had gone down Limestone Creek Track to the Poplars but kept going and didn’t have to come up the steep climb.

People started arriving for the 21st birthday party tonight – hope we get some sleep!! We are just below the pub so might be interesting.

Walked over the hump to check out the river in better daylight. Horse Creek flows in where the rocks are on the right on the downstream photo.

Only the uprights remain of the original bridge. A chap told Steve that they blew it up once they had put in the new bridge so no one could use it.

Walked up the hill to the Bridge Hotel and had a look around.

Great sign outside as there are lots of motorbikers visit here. “Please leave your colours and your attitude on your bike. If you are wearing either in this hotel you will not be served.”

Darts is popular here and people use a dart to pin money to the timber ceiling which is then donated to charity.

Lots of photos about the floods here on 6 Sept, 2010.

Then again on 15 and 16 Oct, 2010.

Then 5 Mar, 2012. It was nearly up to the beer garden that we are below.

Some great old photos. The general store moved up the road to be on the new main road when the new bridge was put in.

A recent aerial view.

Great storage for a motorbike traveller.

The brown bag tree near the big vegetable garden of the hotel.

Headed along the road past the Public School of 1879 – now the community house.

The old church is now a home.

The sports ground is surrounded by lovely big shady trees near the crossroads of the new road.

Back to the Hotel and we walked out into the beer garden for a view over the camping area.

After lunch we decided it was nearly warm enough for a swim so went down for a look, 28 degrees. Not the easiest place to get in from and it is still a bit cool for me and is all murky. The younger ones walked out to the middle – good on them!! Steve had the camera at this point I might add!!

We sat on the step with our feet in the water then I felt something brush my toes. When I looked down it was a huge Murray River Crayfish. He backed under the rock. Steve went and got some leftover scraps of silverside and we dropped them in around the rocks. He didn’t come out again but a smaller one did. Tried to get a photo but the reflection and water ripples made it hard to see in the photo.

Steve pointed out an axle of a car in the middle which I zoomed in on. Wonder how that got there.

Back to join the others for drinks and lots more chatting about Tassie etc. The partygoers started enjoying themselves up in the beer garden. I had to change clothes as it is getting the breeze is getting cooler this afternoon and then quite cold by 8pm when we eventually went in to cook tea. John gave us a Barra fillet from their trip recently so that will be tea tomorrow – thank you very much. Haven’t had Barra for so long.

Malcolm rang for a chat which was lovely. He has been very busy irrigating. They have bought a little place at Scamander now so they can get away to the beach more often.

Watched the V8s race at Phillip Island. Feels like we were just there.

Left the bedspread on tonight and closed the windows as it is a lot colder tonight.
