Wed, 8th May, 2019 Bush camp near Mertondale Mine, north-east of Leonora, WA

6.30am 6 degrees – heater on.

7am 11 degrees and warming so got up for breakfast. Clear sky and no breeze.

Took Bob and Margaret detecting – they share a 4500, similar to Steve’s. Tried a spot near Telstra Hill – where the others go to get phone reception as they don’t have my little phone or aerial. Bob got a nice little flat nuglet but we got nothing. Hardly any rubbish either but lots of ironstone ‘hot rocks’ making our detectors sing.

Back to van for lunch, 22 degrees. Warm in the sun but the breeze is still quite cold.

Tried another spot with no luck for any of us.

Went back to our area for smoko and one more go. Bob managed to snag another nuglet so he will be king of the fire tonight as no one else is having much luck.

4.30pm 22 degrees in the van so closed it up to try and keep some warmth inside.

Steve got the fire going for drinks time. Lots of chatting again – great hearing everyone’s stories.

NO PHOTOS TODAY.
