Mon, 12th Aug, 2019 Bush camp, 50km south of Marble Bar, WA

7.30am 20 degrees, clear sky and the strong wind blew all through the night and is still blowing. Looks like another rest day in the van, reading, playing cards and writing up my blog.

After lunch the wind settled enough for us to go detecting. Tried a spot just down from where we are camped but the others had gotten the gold there too and left lots of holes open which I filled back in. They had thrown the lead shot they found back in a couple too. I found a lot more lead shot they missed I might add. Obviously this little hill must have been a good spot to shoot dinner!! Lead shot sounds just like a nice little bit of gold so you can’t get excited till you get the gold in your hand. As I was heading back to the truck I got another signal but this time the little ball was golden. Unfortunately there were no more.

The wind is still blowing. Quite warm in the van with the awning wound in – 30 degrees. Had a cuppa then tried another spot near some shafts by a creek. Steve scored with 3 little bits but I just cleaned up Australia picking up more lead shot.

The wind has stopped – yeah. It is very quiet now without the wind. Still quite warm in the sun so we played Skipbo while we had our drinks – Steve won 3 to 0!!.

Lit the fire at sunset and enjoyed a lovely evening sitting under the stars and the filling moon. Steve spotted a satellite just as I walked into the van.

Warm enough to leave the windows open till we went to bed. The wind started blowing again then.

NO PHOTOS TODAY.
