Thurs, 28th April, 2022 Hidden Valley Van Park, Berrimah, NT (Jon’s birthday & Mindil Beach Markets)

Rang Jon for his birthday. Working hard and it is raining again.

I put on a load of washing to get us up-to-date then hung them out on the clothes line.

We went shopping for a complete restock - ouch. Steve has decided to put in some vents to try and pressurise the camper for when we are on the dirt roads as we noticed it was coming in through the back door via the door hinges then through the screen. Hopefully this will work otherwise we can cover the door with a garbage bag like we have once before and that kept it out.

I put the groceries away while Steve got started on the vents. He cut into the wall above the toilet. They are for boats so there is a water drain on them and he bought foam to filter and dust that might get in. One cover on - one to go on yet.

Dark clouds are building up so I got off the washing and put it away.

After lunch rain fell - at least the washing and vents were all done.

The Mindil Beach Sunset Markets start today so we will go and check it out later.

3pm Thunder is still rumbling around but the rain has stopped.

4pm we drove into Mindil Beach and easily found where to park - wow they must be expecting a lot of people. The grass was very wet and boggy after the rain but at least the sun is coming out now.

We wandered around the stalls - lots of interesting things for sale. Some are still setting up. There is a game on Saturday between the Cowboys and Parramatta Eels and they have the players coming in for autographs etc. Don’t think we will hang around for that but there are a lot of people in their shirts carrying balls and caps to get signed. The food section is huge and there is food from all over the world.

We walked down to the beach - not the prettiest but they have fabulous sunsets here.

We decided to head back as we have seen lots of fantastic sunsets recently! We wanted to pick up some other items I missed and get some grog. Cask wine can only be purchased after 12 and before 6 and only in 2 litre casks and not much choice! It works out the same price as bottles but I don’t want bottles in the camper over the Gibb River Road! At least Steve is fine with his rum choices.

Back to the camper for dinner - oh no I have to start cooking and Steve has to do the washing up again. The holiday is over!!

Quiet night and early to bed.
