Thurs, 31st Aug, 2017 Bush camp, near Meekatharra, WA

7am 16 degrees, clear sky.

Sent Valerie a happy birthday text. She is relaxing at Mission Beach. I think Russell is enjoying retirement.

Warmed up quickly, 28 degrees at lunch. Saw a big (2 inch) orange centipede – luckily it was dead. Not very nice apparently especially if you are bitten by it.

Mackerel clouds came over but still sunny with a gusty wind.

Phil’s friends arrived, Merv and Sally from Albany, though they used to farm near where Phil lives. They all joined us for drinks in the afternoon.

The clouds provided a perfect canvas for the sun to cast its amazing colours on at and after sunset. Should have got up to take a photo but we were enjoying the moment instead.

Nice evening, for the last day of winter, by the fire waiting for dinner to cook. The clouds are patchy so we could still see a few stars and the half moon was shining down on us.
