Mon, 2nd Sept, 2019 Bush camp on Koonmarra Station, west of Meekatharra, WA

Eek – there were two mice. We got the second one just before midnight – must have been hungry or looking for his friend. I hope they didn’t have babies or that there are any more hiding. There are so many places for them to hide in the van. Will put the trap out again tonight just in case.

7am 13 degrees, mostly clear sky with just a few puffy clouds and a light breeze.

We went for a drive to explore other areas marked as shallow workings and shafts on our map. Found a hill of quartz in between two ironstone hills so it really stood out – forgot my camera! It looked like a snow field. No gold for us.

Home for lunch, 24 degrees, still only a light breeze – what a change from being blown away yesterday.

I continued working on my blog and writing up something for Facebook when we get signal again. Steve walked back to his ‘spot’ and came back with two more bits and a great quartz crystal. We could get that one cut or tumbled.

Played Skipbo while we had our drinks. Lovely sunset through the trees.

Easy dinner tonight – leftovers from last night.

The breeze is quite nippy so closed up the van – feels like winter not spring!

Put out the mouse trap again.
