Mon, 9th Sept, 2019 Bush camp, 10km south of Meekatharra to Peace Gorge picnic area, near Meekatharra, WA

7am 21.2 degrees, clear sky and gusty wind.

The fridge didn’t get cold at all so there must be a blockage in the cooling pipes. The phone reception didn’t come back so we headed back into Meekatharra. Drove back out to Peace Gorge and parked in a different spot – didn’t have to worry about the sun on the fridge so put it side on to the wind so we can pull out the awning if we want later.

Rang the Caravan Shed in Perth who we got the fridge off last year and asked about getting it fixed under warranty. She passed on our details to the Dometic people directly and Steve spoke to Jeff. They can’t just send us a new cooling kit even though Steve can fix it etc as it needs to go through an agent due to the warranty claim which means we have to send it to Perth at our expense!

Had a cuppa. I finished my book and Steve checked out things on the Tablet. He is thinking we might upgrade the truck to a 6 wheeler and build a van on the back which can be dropped off if we want to stop somewhere for a while. Will be a bit smaller than the van and we will lose the truck’s storage but after 5 years we realise we are carrying too much extra stuff – just because we have the room.

I made pumpkin soup for lunch as I can’t fit that in the fridge and will make a quiche for dinner to use the rest of the vegies and the eggs up.

After lunch we did some measurements and I drew up a plan and will do some pricing etc over time and look into it when we get home again next year.

Hotter day, 34 degrees but the wind is still blowing so it is quite pleasant. Well that was until a willy willy roared up and I was too slow getting the windows close and it hit us dumping a heap of dust in the van – luckily I am planning on giving it a big clean when we get to Sandstone.

Chatted with a couple from Mornington Peninsula while we had our afternoon cuppa – he is into geology and they have been having fun finding different minerals and she loves the wildflowers so I said not to miss the wreath flowers at Pindar.

Played some more games of Skipbo during drinks – even games.

The wind settled down after sun set and it was a lovely evening with so many stars shining brightly above.
