Sun, 15th May, 2016 Bush camp, 14km SE of Meekatharra, WA

Light cool breeze, 19 degrees at 7.30am. Put on the radio, yeah, and listened to Macca on the ABC. Lots of people listen to him but I found him a bit condescending when he spoke to some people. Got to hear the weather which is the main thing we wanted the radio for.

Sent Michelle and Annette birthday messages via Facebook. Decided it was time I got some exercise so I got my old phone out to listen to the music I had on it while I walked. Go Mamma Mia!! And I can sing and there is nobody around to complain!! Nice wind blowing from the west today.

Back for a cuppa with Lyn and a few games of Sequence. 30 degrees in the van with a light cloud coming over. I washed my hair then the boys came back late for lunch with No gold for either of them. They had been chatting with the leaseholder further down. He does dry-blowing and he doesn’t mind if people camp and detect on his lease if they come and let him know where they are finding the gold.

Boys headed back to where he suggested. Lyn prepared a damper and I did a small Gingerbread Spiced Pumpkin Cake to go in the camp oven tonight. The wind has picked up a lot so hope it settles down by the time we want to get the fire going.

Steve found a nice 0.5g nugget so he was happy – no luck for Jeff today.

He also found this old tin lid – will have to google it, we think it is a tobacco tin.

Steve walked over to chat with the other guys who were using detectors that find really small gold and one guy had found a total of 5g and the other 2g of tiny little bits. Lots of digging but they had found it. They had been here before with other detectors so decided to go over their old spots with the new detectors.

Nice colour on the clouds as the sun went down.

Still windy but I got the fire going to make the coals for the camp ovens. Wind settled down by the time we put them on. Lyn’s damper was perfect but we had mine a little hot and just burnt the top and bottom a bit - just had to cut that bit off - still tasted lovely.

More clouds came over and even dropped a couple of drops of rain on us. Closed up the van earlier because of the wind which is good as it is a bit chilly as we headed in to watch a movie – so glad we have all those movies Dan gave us on the hard drive.
