Tues, 23rd Oct, 2018 Bush camp, south of Meekatharra to Bush camp at Peace Gorge, Meekatharra,WA

It is exactly 25 weeks ago that we left the van here and headed to Cairns via the desert tracks. Had a fabulous time and saw so much while we lived in our ‘unit’. Now we are back and settled in our ‘home’ and ready to start the next adventure.

Got up early to say goodbye to Tom and Sandy who are leaving at 6am as they have a long drive back to Perth.

We packed up the last bits then said thanks again to Ross and Lara and headed back to Meekatharra.

Into town to the park to fill up the water tanks. Chatted with a couple from Germany who are into their third year travelling Australia. They love the remote areas as there a big cities anywhere.

Louis rang so pass on the news that Kevin McDonald has passed away. We knew him when he supplied the Godden engines for the Formula 500s. Lou and I had visited him in Bathurst the first year we went there as a group.

While I uploaded my blog, checked emails etc Steve rang Rick for a chat. I rang Margaret too. I got an email back from the couple on a station between Meeka and Sandstone that are looking for caretakers/ helpers so I let them know we are back in town and to give us a ring.

We had put in for another homestead sit west of Meekatharra but that was only watering the plants there and being around the historic homestead so helping out on the station might be more interesting.

We decided to lash out and have the huge yummy burgers from the food van.

Did our bits and pieces in town then drove out to Peace Gorge to camp. It is really just a place of granite rocks – not really a gorge.

4pm 36 degrees – summer is coming.

I worked on my blog – trying to get the rest of this trip finished soon.

Steve went for a walk with the Tablet trying out the Happy Prospector App.

Good phone reception and internet here but no TV reception. Got out the hard drive and went back to April 2016 to watch the photos I took each day. Watched a few days worth then put on a movie.

No breeze at all but it is comfortable with all the windows and vents open.
