Tues, 30th August, 2016 Bush camp, 4 Mile Diggings, S of Marble Bar, WA

7am 20 degrees, clear sky and no wind. By 8am though it was blowing again.

Steve headed off with the 2300 to detect while I caught up on my blog etc. I also pressed my Sturt’s Desert Pea to keep it which Wendy suggested to me.

Steve came back with two tiny bits of gold, 0.34grams but it still counts.

Windy day which is a pain after all our cleaning yesterday!!

After lunch we went into town to fill up the fuel tanks, exchange a gas bottle and get some fruit, vegies and eggs. Did our bit for Marble Bar’s economy!! Fuel wasn’t too bad at 1.41c/l but the gas bottle was $47 where we got it in South Hedland for $25. The food of course is a lot dearer, $7.50 for a dozen eggs. 5 tomatoes, 5 apples, 5 oranges, 1 zucchini, 4 bananas, a big lettuce (it was $4.50) – all came to $47.

Picked up a brochure on the Airbase.

We decided to put the spare coils and Steve’s first detector on Gumtree to sell as he isn’t using them and wants to upgrade to a new coil like what Jeff was using. While we have good internet reception here we took photos and uploaded them to Gumtree.

I got a text later after one of the coils so rang the chap. He was in Gladstone, Qld and we agreed on the price and we would post it tomorrow from Marble Bar. That was easy!!

Lovely evening chatting with Robert and Robyn. They would like to do the Canning and Gunbarrel Highways too so will keep in touch. Probably see them at Mosquito Creek again next year anycase.
