Mon, 24th Sept, 2018 Mum & Dad’s, Cairns, Qld

More rain during the night.

I uploaded another bunch of days to my blog. One more lot to do.

The kookaburras are having a great laugh across the road. I managed to get a few of them on one branch.

Brian called in to say goodbye to Erica and Terry. They packed up between rain showers.

Tim dropped off Greg so he could pick up the Tarago again. Has been great to have a people mover while we have been here. We all had a cuppa and chocolates before waving Terry and Erica off for a nice slow trip back to Bundaberg. Been great spending time with them again. Erica had created a lovely rock collection for each of her sons using timber teabag boxes Brian had from Twinings. It is a great way to display all the different things they have both found over the years.

Got Steve to take a photo of Greg and I with Mum and Dad.

Margaret texted – she had identified the flower and tree we loved at Cape Melville. It was a Brachichyton (flame tree).

Mum’s cousin Judy had rung last week to say her daughter Melissa and family were coming to Cairns and wanted to see Mum about her memories of her aunty Eadie (Melissa’s grandmother). Melissa rang. Unfortunately they went to Port Douglas first so I won’t be able to meet them as they don’t get back to Cairns till Friday. They will call in and see Mum over the weekend. We had a lovely chat and hopefully will catch up in Melbourne one day.

Did some more packing then after lunch I went over to Rebecca and Clive’s for a cuppa and to say bye. Then to the shops for the fruit and vegetables and some groceries for Mum.

Decided to go to Balaclava tonight for our final dinner together. First we dropped in on the boys to say goodbye. Jess was planted flowers in the garden around Jon’s ‘golf green’. Had a quick play with Bandit and Lily then gave Jess and Jon big hugs and kisses. Over to Daniel’s for a big hug and kiss with him and Fran too. Managed to hold back the tears. Met Greg for dinner with Mum and Dad. Had a lovely meal and had a couple of Kenos and a couple of dollars in the pokies but no wins for us.

Home for a cuppa then I finished off my blog. Up-to-date at last!!
