blogging then I looked at our trip back. Have to change our plans as we can’t
access Len Beadell’s Gunbarrell Highway in South Australia as the land has been
handed back to the Aborigines and no white person can travel those roads. We
can do the first bit from Victory Downs to Mulga Downs as that is still in
Northern Territory and then we have to turn north to Curtain Springs and go across
to WA on the Great Central Highway. We have to get a permit for the NT section
from one lot then another permit for the WA section. If we want to go down to
the Surveyor General’s Corner (where WA, SA & NT borders meet) we have to
pay the Aborigines $100 per vehicle road tax and $25 each person for an elder
to meet us. Well I have a photo of the post off the internet so that will do
us. I am over paying them to see our Australia. It is bad enough all the
National Park fees but at least we get some facilities for most of them.
