Mon, 15th Sept, 2025 (Part 1) Burra Rocks Reserve campground, south of Coolgardie to Lake Douglas Reserve campground, west of Kalgoorlie, WA (Burra Rocks)

8.7 degree min. The wind had stopped blowing during the night. Mostly clear blue sky with some clouds on the horizon.

Now there is just a light breeze starting as we packed up. Better light for a photo from here this morning.

Headed back to the day use area.

Found another the track through the thin Silver Wattle trees to the base of the rock.

Not much of a climb up to the dam. Selfie time.

Water is leaking out of the dam and flowing down the rock to the trees.

Stepped over the wall to continue our walk up the hill. Amazing work the men did back then creating these walls to direct the water into the dam.

Up the hill, view back over the dam which goes a good way around.

Lots of loose boulders ready to roll down the hill!

Continued up with the cold wind back up and trying to blow us off. Another view of the dam. A slab of rock that they could have been used for the wall.

More rock pools and view to another ‘rock’.

Continued on towards the rock cairn. Steve added another rock to the pile. Very windy up here - should have worn a thicker coat as it is cold!

Good view from up here.

Walked back to the loose boulder area. Lots of interesting shapes.

The wall continues around the rock.

Headed down to the other end of the dam.

Looking around the wall as it continues around the rock. A section has fallen down. It is thick stone - would have been heavy to move about.

This must be the spillway section. Water is leaking out from under it and flowing down.

Around the bottom side of the dam. They must have back-filled here. Over a pipe and back to the camper.
