Mon, 8th Sept, 2025 Bush camp on pending lease on Yerilla Station, south-east of Kookynie, WA

11.4 degrees min. Still a few clouds about on the blue sky and it is still windy.

Packed up and drove to another pending lease. No gold but we had a nice view in the distance of part of Lake Raeside (big salt lake) that we first cross south of Leonora. It covers a big area heading south-east.

We went out into another salt lake area which had quartz blows. We tried detecting but the ground was too salty and our detectors just screamed. People find gold in salt lakes and they are lovely and clean.

Tried another area where some old drill holes were and Steve got a little bit.

After lunch we followed the drillers track but no joy so we headed back out. A few drops of rain fell while the sun was shining on us!

Onto the track to Westward Ho Well and old mine shafts. On the other side of the fence I saw a satellite dish so we stopped to check it out. It said that further over was the site of the original Yerilla Cemetery (1896-97) - probably when the shafts were dug. We continued down the track and parked up where we saw a few detector holes.

The wind is still cold but the camper was a nice 21 degrees. I stayed inside of course as it feels like 15 degrees outside but Steve went for a wander of course.

No joy for Steve but he said the mine shafts were worth checking out tomorrow.

A few games of Skipbo with drinks, shower then the heater on for dinner as the temperature dropped.
