Thurs, 25th Sept, 2025 Lake Douglas Camping Reserve, west of Kalgoorlie, WA

8.1 min, clear sky. Put the heater on for breakfast. Text from Steve that he was at the 7/11 servo on the highway waiting for Malcolm to arrive after coming across from Tassie on the Spirit.

By 9am the sun has warmed things up.

Joined Bob & Margaret for morning tea and we did more puzzles. Then we went for a walk following another one of the many tracks around here. The wind has picked up. We ended up on the mine road so headed back to where we went yesterday. Met some mine workers doing some plant assessments before they start working the area again.

Headed back to camp. I left Margaret there and continued on but didn’t get far as I stopped to chat with a couple, Steve & Julie, from Victoria who are also here for the old car racing. Unfortunately their friend who was bringing his car has hurt his back so he didn’t come across.

Warm 31 degrees at lunch time with strong gusty wind. I remembered I had put a phone tracking app on our phones for when I was home and he is in the bush so I looked him up and saw he and Malcolm were driving along near Mt Barker near Adelaide. 1726km to go. I like this app - will be very handy. Need to put it on the boys phones so they can see where we are too.

Bob & Margaret’s 46th wedding anniversary today so I took them over my frozen cheesecake to have with afternoon tea.

Steve rang from Port Augusta - doing well, Malcolm’s car is easy to drive. They will continue on towards Iron Knob and find a place for the night.

Joined Bob & Margaret for drinks and crosswords again till the mozzies moved in as the wind has stopped.
