Tues, 23rd Sept, 2025 Bush camp on pending lease off Bulong Road, east of Kalgoorlie to Centennial Park 72hr Rest Area, Kalgoorlie, WA (Brian’s birthday)

8.6 degrees min, clear sky - on with the heater again.

No phone reception here so will ring Brian later when we head back to Kalgoorlie.

We went for one last wander but only got exercise. I saw my first snake - a foot or so long with black head and tail and brown body. I steered clear of him quickly as he was trying to move away from me too. We have been very fortunate not to have come across many snakes as there are some very nasty ones about.

After lunch we headed back to Kalgoorlie. Bob and Margaret headed out to Lake Douglas. We picked up the sway bar which just arrived - good timing.

Around to the 72hr free camp again and set up. No photo this time.

Steve put the new sway bar in and I sorted out his overnight bag for the train tomorrow. He needs to be there by 6.45am for the 7 hour journey to Perth. Then he has a very long day sitting around the airport till his flight to Melbourne at 11.45am. Malcolm will pick him up tomorrow morning and they will head west to us. Malcolm hopes they can get here by Saturday night.

Rang Brian for his birthday - he was at volleyball so he rang us back. Heading down to see his grandson, Arthur and Jodie & Bryon of course then join Ian to watch the Supercars racing at Bathurst again.

Steve’s bag packed then repacked after we weighed it. He only has 7kg and the bag probably weighs 3kg first up so he can’t take the extra pair of jeans etc. I threw a few things in my suitcase while I was at it now that the washing had been done.

Quiet dinner and a few episodes of a series. We have finished our ‘movie’s off the hard drive but still have hundreds of movies that we have to watch via the laptop.

11pm 5 vehicles zoomed into the vacant block over from us and did dough-nuts in the dirt. How they could see is amazing and they didn’t crash into each other. After 10 minutes they zoomed out and screamed up the main road. No sound of Police and luckily no sound of crashing cars.
