Wed, 10th Sept, 2025 Bush camp on pending lease on Yerilla Station, south-east of Kookynie to Bush camp on Edjundina Station, east of Menzies, WA

6.7 degrees min - Where is Spring! A few white clouds on the blue sky but the wind is still cold and blowing.

Lou & Ian’s birthdays today - will have to send them a text when we get phone reception again.

We packed up and headed back to the Kookynie-Yarri Road and headed southward. Nice smooth gravel road.

Crossed into Edjundina Station.

As we crested a rise I got phone reception so we stopped. Messages from the boys for Father’s Day arrived. I sent replies and hoped they had enjoyed their day. Will have to ring Terry when we get back to Kalgoorlie as there is only enough reception for text messages. Fran sent a message saying Sophia is walking and she sent a video but I couldn’t open that. Will be fun to see her trotting about. Sent happy birthday texts to Lou and Ian. Sharon & Wayne messaged too to say thanks again and that they sent Sharon’s detector away and it is all good now. Looking forward to heading out to try it out.

Continued on and the phone reception disappeared again. Through a big pending lease but no tracks to go on so we can explore it. Trilobite says there is a couple of mines there but no help if there isn’t any tracks.

Took another track in the other direction to work our way up to another pending lease that has a ‘nugget patch’ marked on it. Followed the fenceline track to a pending lease where the mark was. There is an Outcamp building here nearby. We checked out the mark first. There was a mine shaft - not deep then near it another shaft full of water and a pump. Not sure if this was a mine or a well but it certainly doesn’t look like a ‘nugget patch’. There was a silver rock around it.

We went back to the house which has it’s own windmill and clothes hoist. Found an old sign laying down around the back that said it was the Edjundina Station Outcamp - like where we stayed when we were helping out on Tarmoola Station. It was locked up so we just took some photos. There was pathways made from the silver rock.

I picked up a bit of the silver rock nearby - will get someone to tell me what mineral it is.

More blue sky than cloud now but the breeze is still cold. We headed back to the other spot marked ‘shallow workings’ on Trilobite.

After lunch we went for a wander and only got a couple of bullets.

Continued back along the track to where Steve had noticed some dig holes and chain marks off the side of the track. We pulled up and noticed lots of chain marks and only one dig hole so parked on that.

We went wandering. I went over the chained area on the other side of the track and picked up a little specie they had left behind. Then I got a nugget so they were picking up gold here. I got a nice little clear quartz crystal too.

Steve came back with nothing but had found lots of dig holes and chain marks further over - someone had fun. Maybe this is where the ‘nugget patch’ mark should have been. This area has been pending for quite a while.

The sun is warm but the wind gusts are still cool but I was able to take a layer off for a change. Will be happy to be home in the warmth and not have to wear so many layers!

After a cuppa I wandered over the other chain marks Steve found - he did a big walk of course to try and find another patch. They didn’t leave me any gifts in that section.

The sky is mostly clear now when Steve came back with his find which he got from near the gate we went through. Unfortunately he couldn’t find any more or any other patches.

The warmth disappeared as the sun dropped. It was a big golden ball as it disappeared tonight making pretty colours to the east in the sky too. Inside for drinks and cards again as the wind is still blowing.
