Sun, 7th Sept, 2025 Bush camp on pending lease on Yerilla Station, south-east of Kookynie, WA (Stephanie’s birthday & Father’s Day)

9.7 degrees min, blue sky and some puffy white clouds and light breeze.

No phone reception out here even with the aerial. Sent some thoughts to Terry for Father’s Day and thought of my Dad of course. The boys won’t be able to ring but they will be enjoying their second Father’s Day with their darling children. I had messaged Stephanie the other day as her FB said her birthday was a week ago - a mix-up when she set it up apparently so I said to just say it was the start of her Birthday Week.

Packed up and tried another area but only found rubbish. The wind has picked up and is still cold.

After a cuppa we moved to an old mine area which had a huge quartz blow on the hill above it. Lots of rubbish around the mine but up at the quartz blow I found a tiny boot nail and some lead shot! Steve went the other direction and came back with two little bits of gold so we moved the camper closer to his spot across the creek and between two more quartz blows.

We gridded the area and Steve got one more bit. I gave up and read my book as the wind is still cold and gusty. At least Steve got some gold for Father’s Day.

No more for Steve so we settled in for drinks inside and a few games of cards.
